Barry Ballou joined PFM Asset Management LLC (PFMAM) as a Senior Marketing Representative in July 2006. Mr. Ballou is responsible for development and growth for NLAF in Nebraska. Prior to this time, Mr. Ballou was an Assistant Superintendent of Schools at Hastings Public Schools in Nebraska. Mr. Ballou has taught School Business Management and Finance as an adjunct Professor at UNK since 1995. For more than 30 years, Mr. Ballou has been involved in administration of public schools in Nebraska. Mr. Ballou has experience with using the NLAF at Hastings Public Schools since the fund began in Nebraska in 1988. Mr. Ballou holds FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses.
Timothy P. Sullivan
Timothy P. Sullivan joined PFM Asset Management LLC (PFMAM) as a Managing Director in 2004, following the acquisition of the cash management business of Cadre Financial Services, Inc. At PFMAM, Mr. Sullivan is responsible for the overall management of the firm's Midwest local government investment pool programs. In this capacity, he is directly responsible for the various Board of Trustees relationships and overall client activities.
Prior to joining PFM, Timothy was a First Vice President at Cadre where his responsibilities included the management of nine local government investment pool programs with over $6 billion in assets. He headed up the firm's fixed income sales operations and managed over $4 billion in bond proceeds. In addition, Mr. Sullivan helped create the Illinois Institutional Investors Trust money market fund. Timothy was the National Sales Manager responsible for all revenue from Cadre's various product lines. This was accomplished through the management of both internal and external sales teams.
He attended Villanova University where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. He holds Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) Series 6, 7, 26 and 63 licenses.
Mike Varano is a Managing Director of PFM Asset Management LLC (PFMAM) and has been Senior Portfolio Manager in PFMAM's investment advisory practice since 1985. He is a member of PFMAM's Investment Committee and Credit Committee as well as the firm's Employee Advisory Committee.
Throughout his career, Michal has accumulated valuable experience in portfolio management, investment analysis, asset/liability matching and in the development of innovative investment strategies for clients. His expertise includes navigating the fixed-income marketplace, risk management techniques, and IRS arbitrage regulations.
Michael is a speaker and an instructor at investment management workshops and seminars for local government organizations nationally including the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and Association of School Business Officials (ASBO). He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting - Business Administration from Bloomsburg University.
Robert Cheddar joined PFM Asset Management LLC (PFMAM) in 2004 as a Senior Portfolio Manager and was promoted to Managing Director in 2011. Mr. Cheddar manages client accounts across the country specializing in high quality fixed-income assets. He is responsible for managing client assets in separate portfolios for cities, counties, insurance and self-insurance organizations, school districts, state and local government agencies, public finance authorities and universities.
As PFMAM's Chief Credit Officer and Chair of PFMAM's Credit Committee, Robert leads a team responsible for PFMAM's independent credit research and strategy. This team conducts all of PFMAM's internal credit research for both pool and separately managed accounts and is responsible for the analysis and oversight of all of PFMAM's creit exposure, including corporate securities, financial institutions, brokers and repurchase agreement counterparites.
Prior to joining PFMAM, he was a Fixed-Income Portfolio Manager for the Wilmington Trust Corp., responsible for managing investment-grade fixed-income portfolios for corporations, municipalities and high net-worth individuals. Robert has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. Mr. Cheddar received his MBa from the Pennsylvania State University and a B.S. in Business Administration from Susquehanna University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Philadelphia. He has made frequent appearances at industry workshops across the country speaking on topics such as managing credit risk, portfolio strategy and the economy.
Michael Steinbrook joined PFM Asset Managment LLC (PFMAM) in 2004 and serves as a Director in the Arbitrage Rebate Practice in the Harrisburg Office. Mr. Steinbrook’s primary duties include performing a variety of arbitrage rebate compliance related analyses. Mr. Steinbrook is responsible for tracking arbitrage rebate compliance for PFMAM’s Mid-West investment pools, and assists issuers in the development and implementation of investment strategies for tax-exempt bond proceeds that enable issuers to maximize retainable earnings.
Amber Cannegieter joined PFM in 2013 as a Key Account Manager for PFM’s Client Service Group. As a Key Account Manager, Amber’s primary responsibility is to provide customer service in everyday functions such as onboarding and new client administration. She also serves as a client advocate by providing a “high touch, high value” experience, to address client needs.
Prior to PFM, Ms. Cannegieter most recently worked for Turner Investments, L.P. as a Director of Strategic Relationships within their Private Wealth Group. Amber was responsible for building relationships with key decision makers among wealth management firms to generate, pursue, and win business opportunities. Additionally, Amber met with current and prospective clients to introduce investment products and to review investment performance. Prior to her six years at Turner, Amber served as a Client Relationship Associate for the Vanguard Group.
Amber has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the Pennsylvania State University and is a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) registered representative holding Series 6, 7 and 63 licenses.
